In 2017, our annual Tug-of-War Championship benefitting The Doorways raised over $13,000.00 and grew from an internal competition to a multi-organizational competition with over 10 participating local businesses. The Doorways provides lodging for families during times of medical crisis and is located in downtown Richmond. Our owner Lynn Green is a member of the Board for The Doorways.
The brain-child of our project manager Greg Green, this annual event started in 2014 with just two teams from Davis & Green Electrical participating to raise just over $1,000.00. In 2015, we had several teams of employees participating, added a pizza dinner for all participants and spectators – and raised over $3,000.00!
Wanting to more than double the previous year’s donation, Greg Green reached out to various local businesses to solicit participation. Our partners included:
Teams participated in a bracket-style tournament, with Davis & Green Electrical and Seibert’s Towing emerging as the final two teams. The winner was determined at a Richmond Flying Squirrels game, with Seibert’s Towing winning the day! We look forward to expanding this event next year to raise even more for The Doorways.
